People-Powered Leadership: How to Inspire Accountability, Responsibility, and Results

October 1, 2007
2:00-3:00 PM Eastern

Numerous studies have shown that “when you change the supervisor, you change the results.” Effective leaders simply do things differently – they communicate better, they coach better, they inspire better, they model behavior better. But how do they do it, and can it be learned by others? The answer is yes.

President Dwight Eisenhower said that true leadership involves “Getting people to do what you want them to do… because THEY want to.” That’s exactly what your team will learn in this exclusive audio conference.

We asked Dr. Scott Geller, one of the nation’s top leadership experts, to outline the principles and action steps that successful leaders practice daily to achieve meaningful and lasting results.

Learning Objectives:

  1. How leaders use language to increase their influence and maximize “buy-in”
  2. How to move your personal leadership style from “rules-based” compliance to “principle-based” commitment
  3. The difference between raising the bar through expectations and demanding obedience through mandates
  4. Why it is critical to replace the “Golden Rule” with the “Platinum Rule”
  5. How to diagnose difficult situations using questioning techniques
  6. How to deal with people who make excuses or blame others for their behavior
  7. How to give rewarding and correcting feedback with skill
  8. Why leaders move away from failure-avoidance and toward success-seeking
  9. 7 keys to using self-persuasion to create lasting behavior change
  10. The 3 beliefs that determine any employee’s level of empowerment
  11. How to start using the DO-IT model of people-powered leadership (Define, Observe, Intervene, Test)
  12. The 12 mental shifts leaders need to make to maximize results
