Since 1980 Barbara Stennes, CSP (Certified Speaking Professional) has conducted training sessions or facilitated meetings with 70,000 people throughout North America, South America, and Europe . Barbara is known for down-to-earth, practical solutions to business issues (team building, customer service, creativity, and innovation).
Barbara was personally trained and certified by Dr. Edward de Bono to facilitate seminars on creativity, innovation, and thinking skills. Further, she is one of 10 people in the U.S. to be designated by Dr. Edward de Bono as a "Certified de Bono Facilitator," leading meetings to help solve real-world issues for organizations.
Although there are over 1,000 certified trainers worldwide, Barbara is 1 of only 3 people in the world to be Lifetime Certified in all three Edward de Bono courses:
- 1992 Six Thinking Hats - 6 tools for focused thinking and problem-solving
- 1994 Lateral Thinking - 7 tools for creating innovative new ideas
- 1996 DATT - 10 tools for analytical thinking
In 1996 Ms. Stennes earned the CSP (Certified Speaking Professional), the highest earned designation awarded by NSA. The CSP recognizes a demonstrated commitment to the speaking profession through proven speaking experience, ongoing education, and ethical behavior. Only 325 people worldwide have passed the rigorous criteria to attain the CSP, which is held by 8% of the 3,500 NSA members.
Barbara is a former board member and past president of the ASTD Iowa Chapter, and three times she received the Outstanding Member of the Year award.
Prior to founding Resources Unlimited, she held positions in sales, banking, health care, manufacturing, and education. She owned and operated a franchise with 75 employees., and is a graduate of the College of Business at The University of Iowa.
